Measuring Lepton Flavour Violation at LHC with Long-Lived Slepton in the Coannihilation Region

چکیده
High precision electroweak tests, such as deviations from the Standard Model expectations of the Lepton Flavor Universality (LFU) breaking in K → lνl (with l = e or μ), represent a powerful tool to test the Standard Model and, hence, to constrain or obtain indirect hints of New Physics beyond it. We explore such a possibility within Supersymmetric theories. Interestingly enough, a process that in itself does not need lepton flavor violation to occur, i.e. the violation of μ− e non-universality in K → lνl, proves to be quite effective in constraining not only relevant regions of SUSY models where lepton flavor is conserved, but even those where specific lepton flavor violating contributions arise. Indeed, a comparison with analogous bounds coming from τ lepton flavor violating decays shows the relevance of the measurement of R e/μ K = Γ(K → eν)/Γ(K → μν) to probe Lepton Flavor Violation in SUSY. We outline the role and the interplay of the direct New Physics searches at the LHC with the indirect searches performed by LFU tests.

Measurement of Lepton Flavour Violation at LHC with Long-Lived Slepton in the Coannihilation Region
Lepton Flavour Violation (LFV) of sleptons is studied in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) in the coannihilation scenario where the Lightest Supersymmetric Particle (LSP) is the neutralino, mostly Bino, and the Next to LSP (NLSP) is the lightest slepton, mostly stau. We show that lifetimes of such a long-lived slepton is sensitive to very small LFV parameters and can be measured...

When the mass difference between the lightest slepton and the lightest neutralino is smaller than the tau mass, the lifetime of the lightest slepton in the constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) increases in many orders of magnitude with respect to typical lifetimes of other supersymmetric particles. In a general MSSM, the lifetime of the lightest slepton is inversely proporti...

In supersymmetric models where the gravitino is the lightest superparticle, the next-to-lightest superparticle (NLSP) is long-lived, and hence could be collected and studied in detail. We study the prospects of direct detection of lepton flavour violation in charged slepton NLSP decays. Mixing angles in the slepton sector as small as ∼ 3× 10 (9× 10) could be probed at the 90% confidence level i...

We study lepton flavour violating decays of neutralinos and sleptons within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, taking into account the recent bounds on flavour violating lepton decays. Taking the SPS1a’ scenario as an example, we show that some of these lepton flavour violating branching ratios of neutralinos and sleptons can be ∼5-10%. We study the impact of the lepton flavour violatin...

We show that in supersymmetric models with explicit flavor lepton number violation due to soft supersymmetry breaking mass terms there could be detectable flavor lepton number violation in slepton decays. We estimate LHC discovery potential of the lepton flavor number violation in slepton decays.
